This registers the ActionSets for each resource when the handler
packages are initialized. This then allows other packages to retrieve
the ActionSets for a given resource from the action package.
The initial consumer of this will be the ratelimit package so that it
can programmatically enumerate all of the valid combinations of a
resource and action.
This leaves a number of TODO to refactor the handler packages to also
retrieve the action sets from the registered actions instead of using a
package variable. This is left as a TODO since there is some
inconsistencies in how these package variables are used between the
handlers. For example a number of packages use a map of subtypes to
ActionSets which is then used withing the handler implementation. Others
use a map, but don't seem to use it at all. And others just use an
ActionSet.
This switches the implementation of an ActionSet from a slice to a map
to ensure the elements in an ActionSet are unique. This allows for other
packages to perform set operations such as a union or difference without
needing to account for duplicates.
* chore (managed groups): just a small rename to improve readability
* test (aut/ldap): add a test for user grants based on ldap grp
* tests (role grant): extend TestGrantsForUser(...) to cover ldap grps
* refact (iam.(Repository).GrantsForUser): more readable grantsQuery
Convert existing CTE to use sub-selects for readability
* subtypes,handlers: add runtime trace regions
The subtype.Filterable and handlers.ProtoToStruct functions
are costly and worth measuring whenever runtime tracing
is in use. This has almost no cost when tracing is not in use,
so there's little harm in having them in place.
* testing: Add TRACING.md
TRACING.md contains information about how to perform
Go runtime tracing of the Boundary application.
Boundary OIDC method does not currently support passing in prompts during authentication. This change adds the capability of passing OIDC prompts. Prompts are optional OIDC parameters that determine the behaviour of the authentication server: https://openid.net/specs/openid-connect-core-1_0.html#AuthRequest
## Changes
- New `auth_oidc_prompt` table which contains all the prompts for OIDC auth method
- New `auth_oidc_prompt_enm` table which contains possible enum values for a prompt
- Currently supported:
- `none`:
The Authorization Server MUST NOT display any authentication or consent user interface pages
- `login`: The Authorization Server SHOULD prompt the End-User for reauthentication
- `consent`: The Authorization Server SHOULD prompt the End-User for consent before returning information to the Client
- `select_account`: The Authorization Server SHOULD prompt the End-User to select a user account
- `oidc_auth_method_with_value_obj` view has been updated to return `prompt` value
- Add `prompt` option for OIDC auth method CLI create and update
- Pass configured prompt during OIDC authentication
- Add `prompt` API validation for create and update
* Add generic read/update/delete commands
This adds three generic commands that use the resource prefix to
determine the subcommand to run and pass through args over to that
subcommand. Since this occurs very early on and to avoid loading
essentially every internal resource package, I moved subtype definitions
to globals.
This replaces #3967

* Minor test fixes
The auth rotation test fix allows us to keep checking if we did not yet
see the expected bytes in case the call to lookup succeeds but we are
late in rotating due to parallelism.
The api credentials test fix allows us to check if at _least_ one
rotation has happened. That way if two rotations happen before we check
again due to parallelism, this is deemed a successful result.
* Add timeout to auth rotation test
The nhooyr/websocket library now has a release with the new default
behavior that removes the message size limit. This allows us to switch
off of the fork and back to the upstream.
In the same release that includes the fix we need for the boundary
client, the wspb helper package was removed from websocket. This package
contained some functions to read and write protobuf messages. However,
it was using the deprecated github.com/golang/protobuf/proto library. To
avoid this dependancy in the library they opted to just remove wspb.
Thus this provides a replacement implementation that uses
google.golang.org/protobuf/proto. Notably the newer proto library seems
to lack an equivalent of proto.NewBuffer so writes to the websocket and
not able to leverage a sync.Pool of byte.Buffers to reduce allocations.

The Vault Credential Store only accepts Vault tokens that have a TTL
greater than the internal job scheduler's run frequency. This prevents a
Vault Credential Store from being created with a Vault token that will
expire before Boundary can renew it.
The Vault test server, by default, creates Vault tokens with a TTL equal
to the duration of time remaining until `t.Deadline()` is reached.
This change sets the test controller's default job scheduler duration to
be half of time remaining until `t.Deadline()`. The default job
scheduler duration can still be overridden by setting a duration on
`TestConrollerOpts.SchedulerRunJobInterval`.
This change fixes the error received when running:
go test -timeout 30s \
-tags devlicense \
-run '^TestList$' \
github.com/hashicorp/boundary/internal/tests/api/credentialstores
Which returned this error:
{"kind":"Internal",
"message":"credentialstores.(Service).createInRepo: unable to create
credential store: vault.(Repository).CreateCredentialStore: unknown,
unknown: error #0: scheduler interval must be greater than token
ttl. scheduler jobs interval value: 1m0s"}
The TestObject test helper previously returned an error,
but it's easier to have it perform the error check itself,
as it conventionally done with test helpers.
* fix: monitorUpstreamConnectionState CPU consumption
`monitorUpstreamConnectionState()` is a goroutine that listens for GRPC client connection changes using GRPC's `WaitForStateChange` method. `monitorUpstreamConnectionState()` was consuming the a lot of CPU. It was continuously running and not actually waiting for state changes. The `state` for `monitorUpstreamConnectionState()` was not getting correctly updated which caused the loop to continuously run instead of waiting for new state changes.
Update GRPC `WaitForStateChange` method to use the same `state` that gets updated.
In preparation for putting proxy code in the api package this creates some necessary fields in the target output and it pre-moves credential parsing and proxy handshake code to their new places. This will make the diff for the actual proxy code move quite a bit smaller.

With a suitably slow system -- say, if you're waiting on a Windows
Terminal to output text inside a virtual machine -- the expected order
of things can be thrown off. One specific way this can happen is that
the worker can attempt to dial and have its dial fail because of the
slowness causing the dial context to time out. If, because of the
slowness, we also haven't released the log gate yet, then the event with
the failure information will be queued, along with the context that was
used.
Unfortunately, in some of these error cases, the context that was used
was the dial context instead of the system base context. In many other
places in the function it was the system base context so this is just a
mismatch, probably from code written at different times.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem as we'd fall back to the underlying
logger, but when we release the log gate, things happen differently:
it's a synchronous function and on error it causes us to abandon
system startup entirely.
This commit fixes the issue with using the incorrect context. It's an
open question whether we should change the behavior around errors when
replaying queued events, falling back to the underlying logger instead
of erroring.

With the KMS changes this should never have worked at all (because the
different databases means the credentials conveyed after the KMS-based
authentication would never be valid). However, it was sometimes passing
because of a race condition: the worker could be found in the database
before the new credentials were returned to the worker, causing the
worker to start at the KMS step with the second controller.
This changes the test to use the same database for two controllers, but
to only ever have one running at a time, and uses a sequence of two
changed (or unchanged, depending) status updates from the worker to
ensure that the reload was successful.
The existing pattern was subject to a bug whereby a lock
value was copied every time the value was passed around.
This was happening because of the use of an embedded
protobuf type. To avoid copying a mutex, use a pointer
type in the embedding.
Also fixes a few linter warnings complaining about the use
of unkeyed literals.
* fix (events): convert multierror to stdlib error
multierror errors will be converted to a stdlib error (because
multierror doesn't support json marshaling).
* refact (errors): convert from multierror to stdlib errors.Join(...)
* refact: convert from pkg/errors to stdlib error wrapping
The SetupSuiteTargetFilters globally mutates the function used for logic
inside the target handler service. This means that we could get
inconsistent logical behavior in certain tests that were run in parallel,
since the logic can change at runtime. Ensure tests that make use
of this function are never run in parallel with other tests.

* feat: Worker Connectivity Health Check
Add worker upstream connection state. API calls to the worker's ops `/heath?worker_info=1` endpoint should now return a new filed called `upstream_connection_state`
```
{
"worker_process_info":{
"state":"active",
"active_session_count":0,
"upstream_connection_state":"READY"
}
}
```
The states returned will be GRPC connection states: https://grpc.github.io/grpc/core/md_doc_connectivity-semantics-and-api.html
There could be multiple upstream addresses but GRPC manual resolver determines the state of the connection.

* Remove copywrite from generation script
The current version of copywrite is not sophisticated enough
to only apply the copywrite changes to certain subdirectories,
so to avoid accidentally relicensing our api and sdk modules,
we will stop running the copywrite script until such time
that it can do the right thing.
* License protobuf API as MPL
The protobuf API files are used to generate the SDK,
since we want the SDK to be MPL, the protobuf files
must also be MPL. This extends to all protobuf files
whose sources end up in the SDK directory, including:
- internal/proto/controller/api
- internal/proto/controller/custom_options
- internal/proto/plugin
It also includes the generated service directory in
internal/gen/controller/api/services, since they are
generated from the protobuf sources used for the SDK.
