Hey everyone, my name is Carmen. I like to have a chat with you about Mission Libre,
|
||
|
|
which is my project for 11 to 14 year olds who weren't interested in Free Software.
|
||
|
|
I've chosen 11 to 14 year olds because that's when I got into Free Software.
|
||
|
|
I first learned about Free Software at age 13. I knew from the moment I heard about it that I
|
||
|
|
really wanted to be involved. Unfortunately, back then there weren't any projects from
|
||
|
|
people my actual interest in Free Software. I didn't really know who to ask or where to go
|
||
|
|
if I wanted to be involved. It's been about 20 years now and things still aren't much better.
|
||
|
|
I know there are some excellent projects like you've hacking the freedom but there's nothing
|
||
|
|
comprehensive or works of young people long term. Free Software needs young people and young
|
||
|
|
people need Free Software. This is my I'm starting Mission Libre. It's early days yet but I'm
|
||
|
|
still really excited about the future and I'm already hard of work. Mission Libre does several things
|
||
|
|
already. I've made materials to introduce young people to Free Software. I put out a cute little
|
||
|
|
zine every one or two months. I also help out young people who want to join the movement
|
||
|
|
individually or in small groups. In the near future I'm looking at studying some clubs.
|
||
|
|
There'll be hard of agencies so people can participate in a matter where they are in the world.
|
||
|
|
I'm really excited about these and I have a mountain of plans and the clubs still be
|
||
|
|
some programming tutorials, some opportunities for young people to share their projects
|
||
|
|
as well as discussions about how we can spread software freedom and near-run communities.
|
||
|
|

|
||
|
|
you come at a free software my like to know. That's where it came from. Why it's important?
|
||

How to live your life without non-free software? How to tell others about software freedom?
