I may still have my bottle of collour that, well, my dad replaced, but after drinking the one that I
had for this, I got through many nasty days by looking at that bottle and saying,
bad enough to open the bottle yet.
And I would say no, and then I would, you know, keep on trucking.
Yeah.
So sometimes a bottle you don't open can be.
It's helpful is one more helpful than one you do.
Not that I have anything against somebody who drinks reasonably or
or never to get that ordinarily reasonably.
I was happy to get that bottle screwball off the shelf.
I only had, like I said, about four shots in it.
Three, maybe four shots in it.
And I'm just kind of Chevy Vega for sale.
And you don't need a room to pick it up.
I didn't tear your ears.

Who fuel line?
Probably a new pump, maybe a new gas tank, and definitely the interior,
we've done.
Then it needs probably that I, six yanked out in a 350
tossed in there.
What is on it for 15 grand?

That's a classic of sword.
So maybe that's not.
Well, it doesn't run right now.
They can put you were able to pour gas into the carburetor and have it start,
which means it probably needs a new fuel line and fuel pump,
maybe a new fuel tank.
And the paint job is not terrible.
But the interior does need to be done.
And I would want to pull out the looks to be an inline six out of it and put
it in there because it's got that giant front end and you might as well.

Why wouldn't you just swap it for a 300?
I just want to put it for a car that works.
Because a 350 is a really cheap engine to find and really easy to rebuild.
Okay, I just have heard a lot about the magic capabilities with the straight six,
300 or 302.
The 302 is nice, but I'd still rather have a 350.
Well, maybe it's still working engine.
We may be talking about it two different 302s.
There's a 302 straight six, which is supposed to be
a hidden gem and there's a 300, which is also supposed to be a hidden gem that was sabotaged
because it was producing better power than some V8s.
Yeah, but I can turn a 360 into a 383.

Tell you, my day, I have to go.
New year's yesterday is the wife.

Yeah, I've lost about 180 pounds and just a few minutes ago,
signed up for my first half marathon.
Very nice.
Well, I haven't been weighed in a long time.
I should probably invest in a scale, but
congratulations.
Yes, and I actually do have an episode.
Well, I'm going to rerecord it.
For a hack or public radio on how I did it,
how I lost the weight, things of that nature,
the things that I've done in the last year.
There's these events that happen around the United States,
called the Mammoth March, which are 20 mile hikes to be completed
in eight hours or less, and I completed three of them last year.
ran two, five k's and a 10 k.
And started rucking in the last here and a half or so.
Now, caring 45 pound weight when I do my rucks.
Nice.

And my neighbor for blowing that back yard up.

Have you noticed any difference when I came to your
apnea, since you've lost all the weight?
Actually, yes.
Just, well, see, I did the first in 2024.
I did my first attempt at the Mammoth March.
And I had to drop out of my 11 because I got crap for rest,
mostly because my pressure was set way, way too high.
And I was getting a lot of air of phasia and stuff.
Basically, the air was blowing right into my stomach and would
I'd wake up in a lot of pain and then let out a belching go back to sleep.
It went from severe OSA to mild OSA.
I had teeth in the back of my mouth.
I could probably wear a oral appliance and not have to have
seat pepper at all.
But because I don't have any teeth back there because
my teeth are crap, I still have to sleep with the machine.
But now I can drop down from a bipap to a regular seat
pat machine and I'm blessed to hear about a travel seat
pat and that can be run off of the battery.
So when I go camping and stuff, I can use that instead.
And the battery will run that for me, probably a couple of days.
That's pretty good.
Yeah, totally is.
And I feel so much better.
And my heaviest was 381 and a New Year's Eve when I weighed in
was 204.
Nice.
My goal weight is 170 and I intend to hit that this year.
Nice.
33 pounds away and I'm registered for
Well, the Columbus Half-Marathon in October.
And 120 mile a mammoth march hike in August.
And my first 30 mile mammoth march hike in South Carolina May 9.
So I love it.
Hiking is my favorite thing to do.
Nice.
And now I need to work on getting that ECHPR episode.
I had it recorded.

I just need to re-record it because it's been a minute.
Since I recorded that recording, it's just a kind of chronicle.
My journey and the things I used.
I was actually going to try and present at OLF.
But they had such a limited space for presentations this year.
They just didn't accept mine because it wasn't hardcore.

Columbus half marathon was a tickets were on sale.

I just hope the weather wasn't at all like it was this past October during the
marathon.
Like, because they run it, I think at the same time as the full marathon.
And it was a miserable day for that.
It was it was rainy the whole freaking time.
And I'm like, I don't need that.
But I committed to it.
Now I'm training to it.

This Joel hasn't had a drink in over 10 years.
A real alcohol like drink.
Damn, man, that's impressive.
My dad was an alcoholic, so I know.
But I know that that's not a small tiger you were bucking.
Yeah, well, I actually have a history of alcoholism in my family.
My grandfather was a closet alcoholic until he put himself in a coma when he fell down stairs
and hit his head against this steel support structure for the house he was living in at the time.
So he was in a coma for a month or two after that.
And, you know, of course, at the ER, they ran blood alcohol and discovered he was three sheets to the wind.
Unfortunately, my, my dad went from a beer drinker to a terminal chronic alcoholic over, you know,
30, 40 years from the 50s to 90s.
And the man that I saw a little over a year before he died was, was really a fraction.
It was Labor Day and he was wearing winter wool hunting clothes that hadn't been changed and
God only knows and he couldn't get through three days without drinking a beer or inhaling a beer.
Not only that, the cabin that he had was a mess and when we were kids, he would sweep that
better than only and so you could, you could eat your blood trough of it.
Yeah, I'm glad I kicked that to the curb.
I think the last time I was drunk it was when Dan got me drunk it at OLS.
On a really good beer, but yeah, I don't miss it at all.
Well, I used to have a beer or two a year.
One of the things that happened when I was going to
to a Boston Linux lug cast lug over there at MIT,
couple of blocks away there was a brew pub and that was back before I was taken the
medications that I'm taking now. And I noticed having not drunk anything,
drinking some real good. I mean, this was regular beer, not light beer, but it was a regular
beer and it was a good quality light beer. I mean, light-colored beer, you know, it wasn't dark stuff.
My first drink of that after not drinking for a good long time, it had quite a kick when my
system wasn't used to it. I tried to log in the jitzie, but, oh well, it's not working for me.

I had an XFCD run in that not one of the ones I still have for a little bit before taking it off.

1680 by 1050 screen that is looking for a good home. Although I may
since it's going to be a single screen, I may try the Trinity desktop on it.

How was, say, were you on the show a lot?
Early on, early on.
I actually passed out before and earlier.
I mean, not like I was drinking anything because I wasn't
but it's a lot like I'm not doing it.
This is where my neighbors are up screaming to.
We were planning on celebrating when it comes into India, which is
I'll happy four and a half hours earlier and go to bed early.
But ended up having to, you know, the kids was the first time
the kids were all the way and had to talk to them and phone calls and stuff.
So we ended up in a longer than we were normally.
But we were just light a bed with the windows open looking at the fireworks outside.
And I was just kind of like listening to them after a while.
I mean, I have these big windows in my bedroom.
So I got to see the flashes, but I was like,
ah, just turn away to the wall.
Mm-hmm.
I was just thinking I was getting drunk here in my old age.
Yep, 10 years.
It was the last year of fireworks in the Netherlands.
So everybody had gone out and bought extra fireworks.
And the fireworks shops were trying to get rid of all their stock as well.
So it was super massive everybody.
I mean, normally everybody has fireworks, but it was just not this year.
And fireworks, especially here in the south and the U.S.
They're everywhere.
They set up tents, everything has fireworks here.
Grown up in Ireland, it was considered to be bomb making material.
So it was never any fireworks.
The only only fireworks you'd see is, you know, organized by the city or something.
And yeah, they had really nice ones, actually, where you know,
over a lifting goal away for a while.
And they had it on the bay, and you could tune into the radio.
And they broadcast the music to go with the fireworks all around the bay.
They had it in the center.
So it's like hundreds of, I don't know,
so maybe a hundred kilometers around.
You could see the fireworks and listen to those also.
Yeah, I much prefer the organized ones.
Especially, you know, I mean, I'm going to read stories today about people's houses
catching and fires and things now.
Yeah, the fondle curtain Amsterdam has just been burned down.
Fireworks, apparently fireworks in the roof.
They don't know yet, but it's completely 150 year old church just disappeared.
That's messed up.
But yeah, I mean, I don't know.
They just think, I think, moving from the York, well,
needing your California to hear, I won't show up before you're too.
But most places I've lived, previous to the south,
do not dispense fireworks.
I mean, you can get sparklers and stuff and you get little poppreeging
throughout against the ground.
Only here in the south, below the Mason Dixon line,
can you just easily get fireworks?
Yeah, it's a thing.

When I kept here at first, I was absolutely, I just could make it over
the first new years on an apartment in the middle of your trip
on the 13th floor, and it was just awesome to see.
But also the side-effected out was where they exploded.
It was right next to your window.
So you'd be standing there and you hear, like,
bits of whatever it is just happening against the windows of the house of the flat.
That's kind of messed up.
Yeah, and they're close here, and they actually have restrictions.
I'm going to deed it property.
I mean, I own my own little tiny plot of it,
but you're not supposed to set off fireworks.
But then again, security leaves at 10, so they don't really care after that.
What's a deed?
It's basically condos.
So, like, I have my own condo wall to townhouse.
It's attached to five other townhouses.
So, very similar to buildings in the Netherlands,
if I recall from my time at the ones,
but close together buildings that look like
they're stuck together, and they are here.
But, you know, so, so you get to know your neighbor's really well.

If you're, if you're open-right, that's sort of a four-in-a-rel.

I have today off, which is awesome.

I mean, granted it was beaten into us the early age,

So, now I post a show, uh, so hook it.
It's just easier to, uh, to post the shows as a, as a person doing it.

So, uh, this is an explicit checking chain, I think it would be.
And now normally I edit the show notes.
When I do the processing, I'll get this back and I'll be editing the HTML to check all the links
and fix stuff, but now I paste it in as rendered HTML.
And recently I upgraded the, what you see is what you get editor.
It's a scribe.js, and because the, um, two bar at the top were,
was not rendering correctly in, uh, texture speech engines.
And as you know, after, I mean, a success ability issues here in HCR are P1 bugs,
which we deal with after the daily making sure the shows get out.
So that's that. But what has resulted in is a lot of on clean HTML.
So rather than just a cold block and allowing us to apply the CSS directly,
it embeds the style sheets in rendered HTML and gives you very ugly looking HTML.
So I've an issue open with them, hopefully they can help me on that.
Select the series at the tags and now browse for the audio.
And I need to remember to edit the audio to include the warning of the beginning,
whichever you've already done that. That's now added. And then this I got everything,
title, summary, expressive, license, show notes, series, tags, and browse,
press submit. And that's now send it up to the HCR server as if oh god, don't let yourself.
And now there's just ways to look at the email confirmation that that's gone.
And then I can do the cleanup. And there we are. Thank you for uploading. Okay. So then I moved it to the
backup location. I removed it from the HCR server. Updated the HCR site. So that the number of
items in the reserve queue has gone down by one. And then I can delete the reservation from
the address. And one road. And then I can be sure here. I normally, there's a three hour wait.
Well, it does this. But now it's pulling down the shows and doing the text to speech on it.

Monday of the month, which means we recorded on three days earlier than that.
Which this month means the second of January. And then we have more timeings. We have
promo or do task to, for instance, by the hookah. So Oka will be getting three shows,
I reckon, because we have the Wednesday slot is free. So I'll go do the next reserve.

The first one has already been transferred. Yeah, both are listed as show submitted on the
work form. It's probably an advantage in putting in show,
conscribed there. Do you listen to show from the reserve queue? We're in there. Now,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
smaller, exciting episode of the reserve queue. To see if you have a number, sit by our
civilization. Yeah. Because what can happen sometimes is, particularly when people are sending
lot of shows, is that they mix up the audio, it happens quite regularly. And the transcription
is excellent too for confirming that. So when I'm bolting a show, I also check to make sure
that the transcription matches the audio. So that we've had a case where it got out once
archer spotted before hit the main feed. Thanks, archer. And once one of the civilization
episodes was from a hook one of the civilization episodes was a science fiction fantasy series.
I'm not sure if it was me or a hookah that sent in the wrong one, but then you've got to fix.
So that's the important. So if you want to help out HPR and lower barrier countries, you listen
to the shows anyway, subscribe to the future feed. And you can act as our quality control and
analysis team. And of course, if there are any issues with the show, then flag them as well.
And what I mean, but that is if there's any audio issues, like sometimes we can fix it,
sometimes we can't. But if it's particularly bad, we'll try and contact the host and get it fixed.
Usually that's already done before. And we'll talk to you about that as I'm posting the shows
themselves. So as the second one is being transcribed, I can go and pulse the first one. But first,
coffee. Normally the transcription happens by itself when somebody pulse a show and then I just type
hit your process episode. And then notice something went wrong here. That my links have now turned
into numbered list is amazingly unhelpful. It affects that. So the process episode thing
does a lot of stuff that I used to do manually. And it does it's semi-automatic. And there's a lot
of checks and balances in there. It does make my life a bit easier. So I fixed that. I removed the
crap. No open nor refer is in the link, which I do approve of actually. And it opens in a new page
with the target bank. That's fine. Show notes. Show notes incredibly important. If you're not
submissive, show notes, they will be created for you by me. So it will be my opinion of what you're
trying to say far better that you give us your opinion. Okay. So the first cure check that we have
our quality control check that we have. I mean there are a lot. Let's see. So process episode. We'll
go check that the program. All the programs I need are installed. Got some times that can go
into a new episode. Process the next page for your show in the queue. Then it's our things that
down to my desktop. It's extrapts the episode metadata. So it takes out the show notes. And the show
not field into and it converts into HTML. And then it does lots of stuff like checking the whole
study is actually a number of blah blah blah. And that an email is actually looking like an email.
Because we're getting random stuff from the internet so you can't trust us. Even though I do
these checks on the server itself the server may have been compromised. So this is double double double
double checking which is a lot of double checking but okay. And the reason I'm awfully going
now is because I can. This might be interesting and you know her people know what goes on in the background.
There is one thing about the host profile further doing it this way posting as somebody else is that
say a hookah has updated his host profile since he sent in the show. And now it might get
reverted back to what it was when he sent in the reserve queue. So that is something that I need to
take into account when I automate the posting of reserve queue shows that they don't update the
host profile. So the show notes json file looks fine. It's sanitized. Also seems to be fine. One
better than images. So with this thing with this what you see is what you get editor. The images
are not attached as well as their attached as base 64 encoded raw data into the HTML which is
ugly and there's no real tool available for pulling it out. So I do a brute force
grab and rejects the pull about. And then it also downloads any external images if there are any
found. And then it does checks media stuff. I might go through this script once it's a little bit more stable.
And then I get a show notes edited HTML file which I then apply I mean fixes or changes to which
just on there now for fixing the list link types and removing crud. But here is the point. So I get a
report and I have stuff like field mapping so to be all look same. What the json file was that
uploaded just in case anyone's doing anything weird and I have a media info report of the audio
that was submitted. And I can see stuff like like it's flag. It was one channel 41.1 kilohertz.
So then I'll have the same report but using EX I have two. And then I have two graphics of the audio
spectrum showing the frequencies in there. And then I have the audio waveform showing it in showing
the amplitude. So I can see the amplitude frequency domains. Both are kind of useful because
you can see if somebody's heavily added just show that they especially in the frequency domain
you can see the different individual chunks particularly if there's a spike or something. Also in the
audio waveform you know this is like a typical waveform that you see when you're listening to music
with the audio display. I can actually see here at the beginning that there's one block that is
different than the frequency domain and in the amplitude to the rest of the show which is obvious
cause as I now listen to it. So when I listen to it the first bit is the text teaching notes
and you are listening to a show from the reserve fee alert. And then the other part is the
normal show normally you don't have the first bit but because the reserves show that explains
what's happening there. But I'll usually have a look around and quickly scan to the problem area
that I see if there's a problem area. I usually listen to start middle and end ish on the audio show
but I sometimes mix that up a little bit. Sometimes I do three you spot, sometimes I do four.
So that if somebody hears this and then decides to hack us by putting in limixie with sounding
words in at the start middle and end and then leave you it over. So yes I've got a paranoid mind
just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean the whole world isn't out to get us. So there's that
which shows like from a moosely I'm checking for mistakes or misabs or errors like that. I don't
another concern about the content such we don't edit the shows but what I'll do now is
underneath that I have been the transcript what I'll do is I'll look at the first few bits.
I've already done this when it was been transcribed but I'll look at the first few bits and I'll
see how long is this episode the same is the text spoken in this episode the same as what is in
the metadata at the top. I'll have a quick look down there. If you're new host or if for some
reason I'm suspicious of your mortals which usually new host coming in randomly without
whatever that can also happen. I hope it was a new host that came in random so you never know
but I'm a bit paranoid as to say I will listen to several spots along your episode for the
audio quality and then I'll skim down literally just as I'm doing it now I'm going public service announcement
Europe Roadcasting Steve's Europe Group okay social security, hall of fame, Royal Caribbean
we're talking about cruises, science news, publication blah blah blah this is all related to the show
nothing to worry about. Now the thin balance here is because I don't want to be saying to be editing
or auditing or at any way preventing a show going up so this quick scan is mostly focusing on stuff
that is a huge speech or stuff like that stuff that I will get arrested for and I don't want that.
If the pass is that boom it's out okay so I'm okay with this back here back to the script
this is a message look okay so we have two two checks that happens this is the main check
the idea here would be if this wasn't okay if the audio wasn't okay what I'd probably do is
pump it out to pump it out to audio funnick and that's a
use freely broken source tools the proprietary company but I have an account over there and they
can do marvelous stuff with cleaning up audio twice a few of the shows have been cleaned up
if there was a buzzing in the background if there's a lot of distortion a lot of background noise
it can be cleaned up but I'm reluctant to do that and we'll only do it depending on the
episode if it's totally not audible it's also a paid service so more often I do it the more
I have to pay but I prefer to get it from the holes to the holes just as a better copy of
like version and then if it was recorded and black then that's fine and sometimes I won't do it
because the whole essence of the show is is the recording itself for example the for example the
episode said flipped it on their home phone set up I mean the audio was terrible but that was
our point to the show well you know to clean up that episode would have been
sacrilege it by opinion so there we go so this is the message apart normally at this
point of thumb stopping I'm getting a new episode from the host or I'm asking them
90 down point no no no 9% of the times is I'm getting a new episode from the host
or they asked them to send in a new thingy or there was something has gone wrong
where I need to fix it and I can pick up from here again using the two it'll skip over the
main parts and just bring me back to this point and otherwise if I have spotted anything I'd be
looking for music especially in the in the report and if I spot music then I need to make sure that
that is referenced in the show notes and that it's creative commons or public domain or that we have
a license for well creative commons or public domain if it's not then I have to go back to the host
and usually explain the situation usually at that point or including the auditors as well just
so that they're in the loop okay and then I'll press yes on this and the message is it should be okay
and now we're going to generate the derivative so sometimes it now posts the show and it's now
from now on it's an official episode and I'm from that point on the databases and the lead
so we generate a wire file and we use Dave's tool to add the metadata it's absolutely excellent
to it it handles WAV MP3 any any media file that you can throw out of so it's generate a
master I'm sorry not master generated them leading generated a wire file MP3 file
and now it does the same thing generates a final report where it takes the frequency and audio
spectrum of each of the derivatives and put such into report from excel I can see it and it also
takes days so we have the intro subtitles and the outro subtitles and then we take the
transcription which has got subtitles while timings when they come obviously if we're put in an
intro then the subtitles need to be adjusted so I have a tool that takes the SRT file as
generated by whisper when it was doing the transcription and then not just that down allowing
for space for the intro and then it adds the outro at the back and fix the sequence numbers
in the SRT file now I'm back to the same report which has got stuff added and we can skip to the
derived media and it got the text to speech which I'll check now I alter I'm breaking my whole rule of
filling dead space but I posting some shows and I think it might be interesting for people
to hear what goes on in the background feel free to put it on in the asked me did you mean to make
it sound like we're being scolded for not having stuff in the queue yeah you're a
permanently being scolded for not having stuff in the queue you know that
although in fairness I think you you carried your ways this year I thank you didn't know if I did
oh absolutely one one show a year but you've also helped out loads on the on in the background
creating promoting stuff on the channels doing the multimedia social media stuff tracking people
down bugging them to do the show create all the bugs for me it's been very good and all the
debugging of the newsfeed readers and stuff like that you make work for us but it is appreciated
is this interesting meet going through what's happening or shall I just put it up there no I'm
I was listening as soon as I'm getting my coffee and my morning routine going on
cool so I have the report they text the speech is fine they if lack looks fine so usually I look at
the images and this one has got like now on the frequency domain it's got one two three four
different components so one is the intro the outro you can see the show itself sorry
one is the intro the other one is they you know we're remotely shows alert then the show itself
then the outro and that's not as obvious on the way for but I will go do a spot check of that
for all the files so we'll be back in a bit so quick listen to all the waveforms
they're in the report file basically a HTML file with click media play thing and then I
scrub through them each of them and have a look at the waveforms make sure everything looks okay
it all does then I walk around and previously I check the links manually now I have
script that does that for me but in this instance I think I'll just check myself and then scroll down
check that the numbers and the and the subtitle timing's up in the just to it and just a quick
look at the transcript and I was so far wrong with what he had in HTML notes so that's all the
checks done now the last part is to send the media off to the various different servers so it's
posted yes it's up to the HTML database and from this point on I can go on process the next show
in another tab which I won't bore you with archer yeah it's definitely messing up order links with
on order links so another bug there I missed the last thing you just were asking can so they
the tool that we used to do with what you see is what you get stuff wasn't accessible so I upgraded
it to the newer version and the newer version is now not as functional as the older version and it's
adding a lot of crap in and it's mixing up order order links that are just on order links that
are just bullets with on order links so I'm having numbers like one two three four five six seven
eight nine ten eleven twelve instead of dots bullets and it's also adding metadata tags to the
HTML Dave already opened a bug about this but it's not easy to fix so did I complicate things
by asking about the accessing no no no no the accessibility issue had to be fixed because we
can't put a barrier into people being able to send the tools the only issue is the background thing
when I get the HTML I need to team up the HTML that's all and there's a bug in in it that
it is treating bullets as numbered lists so that's a bug I'm going to have to open on their side
or I might just try and find something else a wizzy week editor that is simpler and I think Dave and I
are both the holdouts on the wizzy way so what was that I think Dave and I Dave Morris and I are both
like the holdouts on the doing the wizzy way because I kind of like to do the figuring things out
myself on the background to get it exactly the way I want yeah but you know I get that but
everybody has their own version of that and this is going to all sorts of different places and
what it looks great in your computer it's not going to look great on and on a Spotify or on
these other places so we need to just have standard HTML what I want is just standard HTML
bug you get it in the either you you put into a browser and copy and paste it in so you do your
markdown you use Ponduct to convert the HTML or but yet this free markdown converter which I'll
give you put into the show notes where is the show notes going and I get proofread it with
and after paying our pan doc into a firebox so it looks like I think I should look yeah but
you don't have control over that once it gets to us because the HBR site's going to apply it's on
style sheet and the internet archives is going to apply it's on style sheet as we'll all the other
places the the only thing you get is the links you know the H1H2H3 your code blocks bullet points
numbered lists stuff like that that's why those bullets are up there and the fancier you go
the whole whole lot of got to do that the fancier you go the more complicated it is and the more
likely is it's just going to call the problems totally lost now where I'm I'm sorry but does
that how does that work with somebody who's a blind user to try to put up the show?
yes that's what we were doing so we have a busy way of getting here if they're not running
JavaScript then it comes up with the previous form so that you can don't be in anything if you are
then as you navigate that you can you can do the same tricks copy and paste and hit
shape format at HTML then they're on with a blind user and that's what I was fixing when you go
to the tabs you if you hover with your mouse it'll say indent selected on selected whether it's
selected or not so on just go or select it on just go or not select this text highlight it's
blah blah blah so this is common you it will work with the screen reader of choice so that's why
we did the change the fact that I have to fix the resulting HTML is not therefore so it's I'm
going to keep the change until I can fix the HTML one where the other is easier to do that
am I making any sense? yes so how does a blind user copy and paste?
however a blind user normally copies the paste. oh so somebody who is a blind user probably
which should do a show on how you do basic things around the computer. absolutely it would be a lot
it would be super useful and as of this year as of now in the EU there is a low forcing
accessibility on everybody large corporations and on the like so you are by default like the
GDPR cookies notice you are supposed to have accessibility functions everything on your screen
on your bank on your phone has to be accessible and if not you're breaking the low and your
can be find possibly imprisoned not sure but definitely find large large sums of money but that's
not why we do it we do it because we want to get chosen for people so and obviously if there's any
issue ever people listen to this and there's a bug on the website or it gets too frustrating or whatever
just a meal link to where your show is and we'll take it from there don't like accessibility
standard in the way of posting a show but it's also why it's only like relying on third-party
libraries for anything yet it changes over time and you have difficulty getting in touch with the developer
and you can't really change stuff so I'm not a story last couple days that one of our tools to

UTC time I have by default on my desktop so on the right hand side I've got the current time
in ISO it's a one format which of course is year one day space hours a minute the only same format
and on my left hand side right next to the start button I have the time just the time of the
date in UTC so I can always just check boom over there and that really helps and I also have a
script that I can just type UTC a little time with the times sorry if I'm seem distracted I am

this nice idea for the reserve queue action and the shows are now appearing as distributing
media to the CCDN if you go to the queue and for those of you who don't know we operate our own
content edition network where we ask people who have got fiber optic connections on limited fiber optic
connections to the home or at least high bandwidth connections to the home and have got four
terabytes of free space on something like a Raspberry Pi for five or better and to allow us to host
the hit-pure episodes from your location and then when somebody goes to get the episode you get redirected
either to the internet archive or one of the content distribution nodes which we have one in the
internet archive one in New York one here in the Netherlands and we have I'm currently building
another one in the Netherlands in a different location and I will do an episode on that later so
that has distributions they derived media and anifortals around canals related to the show
it's checked in anything that is related to images and stuff into our GitHub repository which is the
repository it has copied the files over to the origin server and then from the origin server
the content distribution networks are synch on a pre-defined schedule which we might change
to a neural ss feed in the full most of the time but right now I can force it just because I have

like you can use earbuds and the mic from your laptop was yeah just so as your mic can't hear
the audio on you don't get a loop back the presents problems yeah no I'm using my phone actually
and I think I was thinking about there's one of these things I've got a show show in
and I can't remember at what point I got feedback about how far along the process it was
now I can't remember it was absolutely necessary for a show a show and it was telling me what
what it was at this stage at that stage and I thought to myself I'm not actually

what we're doing more useful was to say you know one or four two or four three or four
so at least you've got some idea how far along the stage it doesn't really matter what stage

I remember was this year or two yeah they had well they they've been doing a lot of
updates and security fixes and replications and stuff as well so one of the things that did this
year was because people are gaming the system doing podcasts now every man is mother has a podcast
they've one of the tricks that they do to make more popular is they'll release a show and they'll
put the days way into the future publishing date so your your podcast you're looking at it and go
hey that should always be at the top of the list of podcasts because it's you know from
twenty twenty nine so the internet archive decided to lock down on that and didn't allow
future publishing dates which of course breaks everything for us because all our shows are
posted in the future so I opened the book and got Jason Scott involved who helped us out lots
and so that all got fixed I had to go back and manually change 30 shows but that was fine
David wrote in the script yes I know Dave okay I want to do that I had a feed go ahead over
if I had a feature request or a bug request could I tag it myself or does somebody else has to
well if you can't do a feature request to be able to feature to take it yourself I have no to
know that works but yes you should be able to why wouldn't you I don't know I just been feature
requested the top and I don't remember I don't see how I can tag it myself I could do it on the side
you just to change well the tags are there on all of them so maybe that's an issue see okay they
issue it I have with them we have different repositories for different parts so the whole is a different
from the static site generator and I completely and it makes sense to keep them separate and the
documentation is separate from that but if you open an issue you need to open an issue on the particular
one and then that has its own repo and own set rules so if there's a feature request on the HBR
generator it might not be on the HBR tools like you know what I mean I just think maybe it might
make more sense to put our great all new issues over somewhere like in our issue reporter
part that refers to all the projects rather than just the individual if you don't want to
see and then now there was a central one just for generator no there isn't that's the point
I was thinking maybe we should have one so like in the HBR site now when I look in I've got the
HBR generator HBR hub if you're a documentation HBR website and HBR tools all of these are
you know the generators for the static site the hub is for all the code for the you know the
static site is the pearl stuff HBR hub is the static R is the PHP dynamic site and the database
and then we have the documentation page which mostly marked out and then the website are like the
assets for the shows and how to documents and stuff like that and then the tools is the stuff that
I use in the background to automate all of this so but if you want to do a feature request in HBR generator
and hope I'm documentation and websites and tools there needs to be a tag I'm just going to
issue pick in the first issues there's no label there so I'm checking I'm checking too and the top
of the pages two places that says issues I don't know so what is one the general where do you see issues
yeah one is a general so if I click on up there so if I click on the get TV side that those
issues and then there's me and in your repositories there's 104 issues so that gives me the overall
view of all the recalls all right would I have a exam on HPR generator there's under the right
under HPR generator there's issues and also at the very top of the get TV page there's issue yeah so
the HPR program's post yeah that's the thing the HPR issues one HPR generator issues
besides cold pull requests those are issues related to this repo where's at the top that's
related to you but I do see labels on the HPR generator oh and they hope there are no labels
hold on one second so I have I can see that there's a feature request help request general discussions
under labels for HPR generator probably created by wrong because you know what you're doing
I think we need to do that in settings so can you make a bug somewhere I don't care where to add it
to all repuls probably yeah now this is a question right you have something you have a feature
request that you want added to the HPR website or to the get TV repository right now it affects
all of them so where do you create the bug that is the question where do you create generic bugs
so I would do that at the very top of the issue they're not in in our repository but at the
very top but do you hear that I'm taking at the top and I say you're possibly a hundred more bugs
underneath you closed so where do I create it issue right next to my profile on settings there's a
plus sign that says creation I'm gonna take that and it gives me options for new repository new
migration new organization but I don't have anything for creating a bug do you now I see okay
so I see that so as soon as the the very top edge where I go to issues it gives me all the
issues but it doesn't give me any space to because I think wrong and you probably should be the
ones to filter out and say what's a bug in what's a feature yeah real yes it works probably
or the person doing us we could no I think the person creating it should decide if you have a
bug if you have a feature request I might change it but then if I'm changing I should say why I'm
changing it this is not a bug this is a feature request because blah blah blah blah and I should support
that with arguments don't you think yes and that's where we have get it because it's trackable
is what we'll do exactly so the question is if you were doing this issue where would you do
where would you open this under hb your documentation please add to the rebels or under hb your
generator probably under hb your generator because that's where Romans read mostly and as lead developer
it will be best to have his impulse on the add label I found the setting add labels which
can be used for issues for all repositories under this organization and I see feature requests there
here I can out them here and if I do that then yeah I found out where I can do this so you

they did keep down here till about 13ish and 130 they're just really wasn't much going on
and that was really tired so I would have been I'll be enough slept until about now normally I'm

you're doing better but how did you make it to last night I haven't been down excellent well
when this ends I'm going to crash and probably have some very odd dreams and why is that
it's a side effect of dehydration I'm chronically dehydrated and
and things you get very trippy when once I finally relax enough to
let myself crash a lot of old tensions and memories come back and get processed
but I don't process during when I'm awake that's got to make things interesting but the
sound foolish but if you're chronicly dehydrated why don't you try to keep a lot of like
gatorade on hand or water what is that I do keep it on hand I just don't
haven't found a balance that works and when I drink soda that tends to push it or when I have
like a pizza that pushes it the wrong way stuff like that you just figure out a healthier diet
I guess and it might be part of my addictive personality I mean I'm from a long line of alcoholics
so I remember right even on both sides of the family if not alcoholics it certainly
people who had issues with drink hey you haven't talked about it in a long time whatever happened
with that whole situation with your house and they've that town finally just give up
rev town has been very quiet they haven't made any noises about replacing the bridge around here or
anything um they tried twice and both times they had like um half a million dollars
but the money just sort of evaporated when the lowest bid was was twice what what they were
willing to pay also there's a lot of sort of urban urban renewal going on in this neighborhood so
that they may have bigger fish to fry well that's good now how so the big thing was you were
trying to get your house to a point where it was I don't know better because one of the things
the town was trying to do was try to condemn it so they didn't do that they could push that thing
forward was that what it was yeah well they were trying to get a hold of the property but
right now they got bigger projects going on all around and uh I'm just keeping my head down
just grinding through day to day and now as long as everything stays quiet I'm safe and
they want to throw their weight around not much I can do well I mean it's your property you should
be able to do something be able to fight back but they try and offering you but loads of money for it
are just uh trying to take it first flavor oh there's a couple of issues that they wanted to go
go after but one of them requires approval from the army corps of engineers so
we found that one to be a non-starter as long as my septic system keeps humming my
sewage plumbing would have to go across a pipe which is protected by migratory fish it's a drainage
pipe that's protected by migratory fish regulations and that makes it they can ask me to upgrade
my system but it really ain't going to happen until until I can until they redo the bridge or whatever
and and I can piggyback my sewer installation on top of a larger variance when they have to replace
that plumbing anyway but their magazine has a plan to replace this bridge which has been here for
well there's a bridge in this location on a postcard that was stated in like the 1890s
so uh and much of the stonework and whatnot dates back from that time or earlier
and it's uh seems to be WPA cement work just to say it's more fancy than than strictly
utilitarian and back then they were throwing a lot of uh they weren't going for lightweight
bridges they would they would go they would just do the work to keep people busy during the
depression so did they think that the bridge would fail or let's put this way is there a giant
weight limit sign on the bridge itself oh yes they did a one improvement to the bridge they put
a metal plate on or the decking was getting holes in it they may have to put another metal plate
down but the the improvement they did is that they replaced the no trucks that were two and a half
tons with no trucks over five tons over the bridge and between you me and the lampto's
trash trucks and whatnot go over it regular so so nobody really knows what its weight
carrying capability is but I think it's considerable well over the five ton lemon if I were
if I were a betman how have he's a trash truck I have no real concept of weight when it
comes to large vehicles well I know I've seen tractor trailers go over it so you know
uh they talked about it you know they're probably 10 tons or so okay so it is pretty steady
sturdy but it's it doesn't that town doesn't feel like it is so is it snowing out and
wait with this morning yes I before dawn I'm going out and check and I teased the guys about
anybody know know how to sing I'm dreaming of a white no years nice the good news
such as it is is it's like powdered it's it's very fine snow and it's going down like a
like a very light powder like powder on a powder donut which means when I
decided to get up on my hind legs and I can probably just sweep the walk instead of shovel it
just to keep it from compressing and turning slippery yeah I think we got a little bit
wetter snow here it's falling down kind of heavy I mean it doesn't look bad but I mean it's
I know I'm hoping for the best that last snow we had was a nice fine snow and I was able to
shovel it pretty quickly I'm hoping this is about the same well I I shoveled shoveled out
now even did did all the walk around the house and then a few days later we the rains came in
and washed everything away yeah that one didn't last now the only place that we really have snow
is where they left snow piled up on one of the curb cuts to make the crosswalks handicapped
accessible I don't need handicapped accessible for myself but I do shopping with a with a
grocery cart folding grocery cart and it would be kind of nice if if those curves were available
I can get around them but you know it was designed for that sort of stuff
you didn't want to just steal a cart from stopping shop maybe give it a nice personalized paint
job call it and put a little plaque on this side and that mine is cart actually I've got
I've seen carts from other places here were a couple of miles away from the grocery center however
most of my shopping is 7-11 or a CVS or or some all market whatever small markets that
have in the area well just a little basically an independent sort of 7-11 type place
convenience stores I got you they have any decent ones but like more variety of stuff
or is it still just like regular convenience stores well the 7-11 has some stuff that's all right
I found one of their peaches which is reasonably edible and less spicy than most of their
the other pizza offerings and it's not just the cheese pizza that's good
yeah and I also have got a loaf of bread thought out so that whenever I decide to
chow down I can start making my sandwiches and have a gable time and I don't have to go out
in the nasty for a few more days so you were staying before that you had hit
from hit that age where you had to go through retirement so did you get all of that work though
yeah they switch me from disability to retirement I think less November not this November
the thing is that according to what I've been hearing on the news I have to re-apply for
sources of security and my food stamps as part of Trump's trying to clean up those programs
makes it only only people that it should benefit are getting them it's going to be a pain in
ass yep but that's the program that you just need to clean up a bit I'm not against it
a program at all but it is one that's it is definitely a program with the right idea but it's
incredibly broken yeah I remember I had a girlfriend when I was in college and for many years
she was sort of my girlfriend or turned out to be just a friend after a bit she was blind mobility
challenged and in the days of real food stamps she had to go over walk generally travel
halfway across Cambridge to pick up twenty dollars in in paper food stamps
in fact is I helped her fill out her application for food stamps and when I went into the office
there were a couple of ladies there um suitably minority who said you're going to help her fill it out
and I just thought to myself I wonder how many twenty bucks these people were getting

This is Logan I'm sitting here drinking up an era water and I brought him home for my
walk. Walk all the way down there just to get water. No I walked down to get about 4600 steps
and coffee now I must get ready for a surprise birthday for somebody hopefully they're not listening
well that's pretty cool. One of my walker friends they just turned 70 actually and would they actually
be listening? Probably not they're I'm their tech advisor for this entire coffee group
because if anybody has a problem with anything tech related it usually falls in my lap so they
would probably have no clue how to come here and listen. Would you tell them that we were doing it?
I'm sorry what was that? Would you tell them about this? Oh yeah no they the in fact
I've been meeting up with them for seven years so the last maybe three or four years I've been
coming in here and I always say this is what I'm doing so so they they know I'm doing it they
just have no clue what it is. It's weird just because most of the people around me don't
seem to be very interested in tech related things and only some of them kind of know that I am
very interested in tech related things because you know you ever have those people that you
talk to about tech things or you have something that you find interesting or exciting in your
head and you start talking to them and you watch their eyes just slowly glaze over that's most of
people around me so I just don't most people I don't that I work with or you know that I know I
barely don't even talk to them about tech so none of them know I mean besides the people in this
house none of them really know that about the fact that I podcast or do this.
Yeah it's same here I mean most of most of my tech friends either I mean most years I go
over to Okamper something and I'll go to local lugs and stuff here but I don't know I'm
I lived in Charlotte's southeast Linux and then but yeah I don't I mean most of the people I
do photography too so I do have friends in that circle so I can talk that kind of nerd but
most of the people and they talk sports ball and I don't follow sports so I just
wear shirt that says sports some mornings and you know sports that's great yeah I've got a
shit down and get a try tripod with a horizontal arm and a good USB camera are we going to see
what my look like. I have I have a couple of webcams but this one I have to create a
an arrangement where I can use the camera to take pictures of a book and then because of my
eyesight I will be seeing the video on a computer screen my eyes are okay except they're talking
seed cataracts and they're talking evidently I can see pretty well if the screen is illuminated
but but Texas not self illuminating is more problematic so I'm going to bite the bullet get a
desktop tripod with it not with with an arm and then get get a camera it's probably cheaper than
getting the glasses which is going to be like $600 according to one source that I checked on.
So net minor here's kind of what I do I mean I don't I have bad eyesight anyways but I've had bad eyesight
since I was like 10 but instead of getting a full tripod with with an L angle they have the ones
that clip on the shelf and I have one that clips onto a shelf that goes down to my desk not for eyesight
it's just for recording me fixing electronics but something like that could work and it will hold
a pretty good size camera. Well I would be useful if I had some useful shelves around here but I don't think I do
help and then you know I mean the ones that I use I actually put up over my desk but yeah
also here's a tip for everybody. Plugable has a 200x USB microscope which works well with Linux
I mean that's that's basically what I'm going to be recreating except it's not going to be
200x magnification. Although I got to tell you the 200x magnification is pretty good reading
things like the fine print on memory sticks and stuff like that and do you have like a Medicare
Medicaid? I have Medicare but I don't believe I can get the reading aid covered under
I have no uh visual writer except for the basic testing. No glasses Medicaid pays my Medicare
premiums or you know part D and whatever but then again the only reason they're paying that is
they expect to get it out of my estate if I should sell my home or otherwise not need a home.
However also I have some good news that tomorrow I should be able to call my bank and
I will have my first check of 2026 because my usual payment date is on the third which will be on the
weekend and they don't they usually cough up the check a little early under those conditions.
