That's great. The Bash script is what we needed. I had spent (wasted?) time trying to find Perl magic to do it, but failed or ran out of energy!

This looks fine. I spotted the original bug I think, yet didn't fix it! Good to see some progress :-)

Not sure if the original Perl implementation had this bug - quite likely it did.
