We chat and have a nice conversation.

Who been it for 12 hours.
It was started as a.
Just as a way to for people in the HPR community to get together because people are in different time zones.
All around the world in the HPR community, that would be a good chance for people to come in and say hi and talk and stuff and we would record it.
Now we have a small group that like to keep this together.
Mainly, we use Dulling Server. I kind of keep a stream going. I do the audio editing and then I have Scotty.
In the past, Lovecraft and Scotty have been huge helps with doing the show notes.
And they do very, very, very thorough show notes.
Very good idea how much I appreciate the show notes that they do.
Because I think at some point, if it was just me doing the show notes, I would have just said people talked for a while.
Yes, they talk the show notes.

They go in thorough detail and basically anything that was talked about, they find a link to it somehow.
Yeah, so I really, really appreciate all of their help.
I appreciate, Ellen Furley, it's used a mobile server. Dulling the mobile server has been a staple in the Linux podcasting community for a long time.
Oh, so they keep on testing.
We were told that the community uses over there as well.
Yeah, I do the Linux podcast and we have, we've had a room on there for a long time, but recently, in the last year or two, we've switched over where
Linux, these Linux server.
I think there was some issue with Delwin's at one point.
So, but Danny, Danny loves hosting stuff, so he's got a bunch of he's got a matrix server going.
He's got the agency server.
And so we use that now, but it's got the old kernel panic used to be on here.
It's still recorded on here.
So that's basically what this is.
So it's a hassle of having the manager and other servers.

There's a distinct, the servers are rocked.
It's been, I loved it.
I talked to Delwin with the uptime is in the server.
So before we start, and you can play along if you're listening on the podcast later.
By the way, this is all recorded and will be released later as a podcast.
But I'll get to that.
We have some ground rules, which should apply to everybody joining the stream here or joining a mobile to talk.
We use push to talk, and you have to use a headset.
These are non-negotiable.
So with so many people on the chat, you have to use push to talk.
You also need to use a headset.
So the audio of the room is not that bad back.
If there's a problem, which you set up, please drop and listen to the stream.
Trying to connect poor audio and poor correct.
Sorry, trying to correct poor audio and post is a lot of work.
That somebody else will have to do.

And it's not worth it.
So people, there's a room here on the audio server.
When you go in to the mobile server, you can nip up to the audio test room.
Check out your audio out there and make sure it works.
Do not be going around going all its only for five minutes.

But we don't need to because we don't need to fill dead air, which is the next point.

I'm not a traditional radio broadcast.
If there is no conversations going on at a given time,
don't feel like you need to fill in dead air.
I've been guilty of this in the past, but there's no need.
Before the recording is posted as a podcast,
all the silence will be truncated.
So even if there's a four hour break in the conversation,
it doesn't matter.
It'll all get truncated down and then we'll hear the next time zone coming in.

Do not monopolize the conversation.

Especially after Elon Musk bought it out and switched over to X.

So I think those are the only two I ever actually check.
But I, either one of those I really don't check that often to begin with.
Well, I do, they, I do the post of the announcement of the show every day.
This is like, you have to actively engage, which you can use the shield that you get from time to time.
And, uh, that's what I do.
So in the morning, post the show, make sure there's no comments or add your questions around me.
Mostly if it's important that will come in via email or as an announcement out here.
But, yep.
And the only reason I'm still doing the Twitter thing actually is because it's
minuscule amount of work to copy and paste it in when I announce it to Master Non.

And for some reason, I,
uh, subscribed to a lot of people who post pictures of cats.
Not necessarily something for me.
But seems to be gone past a lot in life.
Harry and Harry, of course.
Any of the, um, any of the hate bear hosts that have got, um,
got a master done account and post on there.
And we were looking, we have a currently a book open or a feature request open to, uh,
automatically take, you know, to build a master done link thing.
Uh, integration with master done on the, on the Hitch bear service.
And the biggest obstacle to that is not a technical one.
It's, they, if I post something I master done,
the general rule is kind of a disappears.
And it's not really considered cool that just great stuff and keep
all surround forever, which is what we would be doing if we were,
allowing commenting on an episode via master done.
So that's, that's it.
But we could make it that you, like, approve that as part of your, um,
in your profile as a host, you could approve like your tick box that allow,
allow me to comment on episodes using my master done account or something like that.
That would be interesting.

What they technicalities of the managing the permissions or from master

And he's noticed a huge decline in the attendance.
Especially on the Ohio, the next practice, which used to be a big one.
A lot of it is down to COVID.
And also the need for, you know, hands on the next.

It's like runs and anything.
That was kind of my thought too, is it's not like, like back in the old day with the
lugs where there was install fists.
And where, you know, everyone got together and tried to work out the bugs together.

try to go as fast.
Going to their jobs in the beach or wherever they're going.
The electric scooter has really picked up a popularity.
I mean, I see those everywhere.
The bikes and the scooters are crazy.
And we have a nice bike path adjacent to the road.
But it's in the road.
And to me if it's motorized or a bike that should be in that, but five in the morning,
they both start whizzing past me on my morning walk.
So don't know what that's all about.
I've got to stop and occasionally look back to make sure I'm not going to get run down either.
I thought the general rule was that if you're on the bike path itself, I mean,
you could be on the path itself like a sidewalk.
But if there's a pedestrian there, you have to move over into the road or just move out of the way for the pedestrian.
So on a, like a sidewalk, the pedestrian takes precedent and then, yeah, and then you.
Yeah, I guess that's pretty much the general rule.
Other than people on motorized bikes don't really care.
When they go like 20 miles an hour, easy.
And I'm just the meat stick to them.
I got to get my morning walked in there.
I got to get my steps.
Otherwise, I feel like I failed the day.
I must rule the day.
At some point, I should probably come up with some sort of exercise routine.
I'm using that right now.

Well, I bought an elliptical because of cold weather like this.
And my condo, the HOA has a gym on site, but it's usually populated by much younger people at this hour.
And I do like my morning walks.
But doing them, God, since I was in my 20s.

I'm guessing, so I'm heading to a panera, which is my morning stop for a coffee.
And then I head back.
I'm not used to talking while walking, so you don't have to be breathing.

And then I felt this heartening if we moved them over the nature.

Recently, it's been a lot of 3D printing and was it.

He works with Raspberry Pi is a lot still.
And he's working on his home network.
There's a lot of stuff like that.
A lot of self hosting stuff.
A lot of us like to run our own servers at home.
I know there's a lot of people who when they only have like if it's just them,
then a lot of people don't run their own servers.
But once you have more people who you start supporting more people,
like here at the house, so when I run next cloud for myself,
I'll run like jellyfen for shows and stuff for.
Like I basically ripped all of my old DVDs and then put them onto a server.
I ripped some YouTube stuff for the kids and put them on jellyfen that way.
And they can still see some YouTube tech content.
And they don't have, I don't give them access to YouTube because.
YouTube is kind of the wild west of prep.
So.
I'm trying to find out it before the AI stuff.
And I believe.
But yeah, it's good to say.
I must just don't have like the the patient to stuff.

And the problem I have is the next cloud that I can't really.

Florida Universal Studios, uh, like the second week and the December.
And the way we had it set up, we didn't have to worry about it at all.
And I think it looks nice.
Once you get all the ornaments and stuff on it, it looks real nice.
So, yeah, it's just so much easier with a fake tree.
Plus, I don't end up with needles in my feet.

It's like a sweatshirt, like a hooded sweatshirt, and then my work shirt on top of that.
And then I, when I'm, if I'm moose, I'm, in this case, right underneath the hooded sweatshirt,
you would have the electric vest.
I think they can puffy usually.
Right, really, I mean, I've had thicker, actual vests.
So, I mean, it's just a thin piece of wire running through the thing.

they were working like crazy hours, which is illegal now. The child labor laws country
wide or statewide state. Okay. There is federal, you know, mandates and laws on certain
portions of it, but it really comes down to the state. Most things come down to state.
It's a little country. More or less. Yeah. I got my first paper route when I was 11 or 12,
no, 12. And do you have your bike? No, I didn't do it from a bike. I didn't do walk. Parts of it,
and I wrote with my foster mom for parts of it. So she would bring you to the place to pick
up all the papers and stuff, and then like the giant bundles of papers would stay in the van,
and me and my foster sister, Dawn would grab a bunch of them, go deliver, grab a bunch, go deliver,
grab a bunch, go deliver. Do you have your mother, your stepmom's paper route, but you guys
were just kind of helping us. Foster, foster mom's. So it was mine and Dawn's paper route. It's
just need to help us out. Okay. And then not long after that, because that job sucked. Not long
after that. I, seasonally, I would do detastling of corn and helping out on various farms. Yeah,
that was, that was fun. And then like my first retail job, I would have been 16, and then it was
dairy queen. Oh, fun. Yeah. And then I switched from that to Alco. What's that? It's kind of like
target, but smaller. Okay. And then I worked there for Bright Up until I went to college at 17. And then
I left for the army two weeks after I turned 18. Went to college at 17? Yeah. I graduated
from my school 17, too. Technically, I started college. I started taking college classes at like 16.
Oh, wow. So I was a nerd. I still didn't graduate until I turned 30.
I did some very small work. Well, it was really, it wasn't work. I just kind of helped out
picking strawberries, which was very tedious. And I think I spent most of the time eating this
more time eating this strawberry, so then I did actually picking them. You know, putting them
are supposed to go. I did, I did data entry work for my mother for quite some time. My mother had
ran a business, which she was a sales rep. She ripped the bunch of like crafty type things,
like companies that make candles, a rod, iron, and stuff. So it, so I would do data entry and
her old old laptop on that. Basically, I had a game with that, where
it was, the game was, I would sit there and try to, as soon as I entered one one thing into the
form, I would then try to see how much I can get entered into the form before the full, the page
fully loads, because it would still all populate what I did to it. And yeah, the keystrokes all
memorized everything. Okay, that sounds cool. Enter in the name, put the name in,
hit tab, it goes to the next thing, you know, and then try to get in the last things,
I can get entered in the form of page fully loads up. It was like a database program
back in the old, like lotus notes days. I think my father set up the initial page for the
entry page for the database. And I was just given this stack of paper from my mom took the orders
on, and then I entered all into the computer. I guess I did do a bit of work for John Deer,
the local John Deer, making their home page. Go, yeah. But, you know, I had one of those high schools,
one of the few high schools, you know, in the late 90s that had programming courses,
and we actually did a bunch of C++ and HTML. Cool. But yeah, web pages have changed a little
bit since then. Oh, sure. Lots of CSS and JavaScript anything. We didn't have any programming
classes. Yeah, there was a typing class, and I actually, I think that's the class I got the
most out of the blurry head, you know, like a me a pro, like that work processing programs.
I don't know. I took basically every single computer course that they offered. And again,
the only one I got the most out of was the typing course. What I should do for fun one time,
which is get one of those games, like the typing games. Yeah, my son did a lot of that. Did he,
did he good? Yeah. Some of them might think is I can, I can type fast, but there's going to be a
lot of errors. So, as I can think of those fucking keys. Well, Jojo has, um,
dysgraphia. So, he has trouble, like, you know, putting his thoughts onto paper. Um, and I guess that
somehow translated over to him, taking a little bit longer, learning to type. So, he put in the
extra work work with typing. He did a lot of those games so that he could more easily be able to
type while younger so that he could get around the whole writing thing. Well, for my understanding,
there's no more writing at all anyways. Well, when they're younger, they still write. I mean,
you can hand a five-year-old tablet, but he doesn't mean they're going to do their work with it.
I think all the classes and stuff around here have gone almost almost completely away from paper.
You can write without paper, too. Yeah. So, I'm going to ask you opinion on this. What is,
what is your opinion on cursive? Um, cursive is a dying art. Obviously, it's not really needed.
I don't think, but I think writing itself is still important, even if it's not cursive.
Oh, absolutely. I agree 100% with that. And I constantly try to push that when it comes to
my daughter and her IEP and stuff is writing is still, but having even decent penmanship enough
that somebody else is legible to somebody else is very important. But I think cursive, because I know
there's a lot of people who want to who get upset at the fact that cursive isn't used or taught
as much as it used to be. But then you go out into the real world and about the only time you
ever see cursive out in the wild is when somebody has to sign for something, sign their name or
something. That's it. Right. Sign your name, your full name, in cursive, then that's basically it.
And then you look at some of the things that people who have been taught cursive and know how to
read cursive and you watch them sign their name and it doesn't fucking look like anything anyways.
So what the fuck's the point? Yeah. And then a lot of those people will tell you it's because
our founding fathers wrote the documents in cursive. But yeah. Okay. Sure. Right. They could have
it too. It doesn't look matter. They could have written it in a different foreign language and
you know, there'd still be translations. Yeah. It always drives me nuts when people try to
make a big deal about cursive. Yeah. It's the world has moved on from that. So,
but yes, I can write cursive. Thank you very much. I'm not bad. There's some things where I
takes me a minute to remember what they held the how to do the letter. Yeah. Well, I'll be honest.
I never had good handwriting to begin with and then you know, lack of practice and my hand being
broken a couple of times. My writing is pretty ugly. But I still know how to do it. I think I've
written anything in cursive in so long that besides my name, obviously, in the right way. Yeah. I haven't
put pen to paper in a real long time now that I think about it. Yeah. I mean, if I did, I don't think
my go to would be cursive. No. No. So, did you get any good tech for Christmas? Good tech. Let's see.
Not really. Kind of think about what I got that would be tech related. The close. I think the closest
thing I got was a, it's called a turbo fan. One of those electric fans that can use to like
lower off of keyboards, but things powerful enough to like almost push something across the room.
But a little handheld. That's cool. Yeah. I know when you're talking about
looks like a little gun. Yes, pretty much. Yeah. That's super helpful for down here in the
basement where everything gets dusty. It's going to be super helpful for like the car because
that little center console cup area, like a couple of areas and stuff. Just try to blow all the
dust and crap out of that. Let's see, tech wise. I got some more filament. Black in another wood
PLA. Yeah. My daughter got me a wood PLA and then a box of like force pools of a regular
different colored PLA. I mentioned to see, so this, I got the, at least this sun blue brand
would PLA. I have not tried that one before. I got the hobby lobby has a, I'm not sure if it's
their brand or what brand of PLA. That one worked beautifully. I mean, I printed a bunch of stuff
with that and it all came out, it didn't clog my hot end at all. It came out really well.
It looks really nice, too. And then I had that other brand, I don't know what the hell. The
name of that brand was that just clogged my hot end to all of the time. It would get like 25%
done in a print and then just clogged. So I'm not sure, I'm, I'm, I look forward to seeing how
the sun blue PLA work, what PLA works. This is kind of a heat or anything when it was clogging.
I tried that a couple of times and it would still at some point clogged. I think the, the
hotter I got it, the longer I would get, but at some point it would still clog. Did you try a
larger nozzle? Yep. Because I was pretty out those, remember I, I was showing you guys
while back those hex gun storage bins. Yeah. Honeycomb months. Yeah. I printed one of those out
with the, the wood. I mean, I got one where it made it almost to the very end before I finally clogged
and figured you screwed up. And I had that one, I want to say 0.8. I think that was a
point. And it's still eventually clogged at a point eight. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it could be clogged
inside it and clogged them, but I mean, hot end itself, but it's still not good. That's definitely not
good. But that was a long print. That was like a 20, it was day, a little over day, like 26 hour print.
Yeah. I got the four spools and then one of wood. And then, um, hey, my other daughter got me a 2.5
G network switch. Cool. I think you were talking about that. Yeah. So, um, I had to design my own
because it's an off-brand. It's really HD. I couldn't find where anybody had made a, um,
mini rack mount for it. So, I designed my own and that did take a couple iterations to get it right.
But, um, yeah, it's ready to go. It's just, you know, I also had to order the, um,
I had ordered two AE adapters so that I could use the, take out the Wi-Fi modules on my mini
PCs and swap them over for two and a half gig networking. And I'm waiting for those to show up
and they should be here either the second of the third. And then, um, I did. I, I, that ACER, um, computer
that, uh, Danny gave me, um, uh, doesn't have a whole lot of, you know, PCIe slots. So, I, I'm going to try
out, um, a USB-C to 1.5 gig. See how that works. But it does mean I have to take apart my rack again,
which is just fine because hard drives keep fricking dying. Still are you just referring to the
other do it died before? No, um, I was going to talk about this on a couple of shows, but considering
it keeps getting pushed back and might as well talk about it now. No, I think it's just going to get
released until, like, July anyway. So, yeah, it takes, it takes a long time to get it all cleaned up.
It's 26 hours of recording. Doesn't happen overnight. But, um, no, um, right, um, but I had, um, it was, it was
starting to drop again constantly after I had swapped out the internal M.2 adapter for an external one.
And, um, because I thought it was the adapter that was causing the problem that make everything drop
on there and then, um, it started doing something similar even with the, um, external adapter.
And so, I ended up hooking it up to my main PC and running, um, FSCK on all the, the drives, but it kept,
you know, falling out. And, um, I ended up disconnecting the drives one at a time until it stopped
doing it. And that's how I found, you know, bad drive number one. And then the other drives all,
past FSCK just find no issues. And I hooked them all back up and then I tried a different method
to connect it to my computer, figuring I could, you know, format it and see if that got rid of whatever
journal issue that it had. But eventually, the, while trying to work with it and figure things out
with it, it just would not read anymore on any machine. So, completely dead. And then, yeah,
that sucks. And then I did, because I, I had had four drives going into my, um, I had five drives,
hooked up to the proxmox, but only four of those drives going into the, um, OMD,
dope and media vault. And then I hooked all four of the drives that were left into open media vault.
So, since I wasn't using a lot of space on the proxmox, so I had on that eight terabyte. And then I
started hearing that sound that, that, that, that little chirp that hard drives like to give
when they're busy dying right after, you know, another hard drive died. And, um, yeah, I thought
it was one of my drives with like all the data on it. But, um, thankfully it was the one with
almost nothing on it that was giving the chirp. And, um, so it still hooked up currently,
it's just not being used for anything. And then, somehow, I don't know if it's an issue with
radar or if it's an issue that was previously happening because of the, the, the, the, the, the
dying drive interacting with the M.2 adapter that that I'm using. But I'm missing data
out of my, um, audio bookshelf library. And I know, because I keep a backup, an entire, like,
backup of my audio bookshelf. And there's like, 4500 books on my backup. And there's only like,
3900 books on my primary. And, excuse me, the primary should have more than the backup,
because I don't regularly back up to your missing 400 books. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I'll ever take
at them again. Oh, uh, easy enough. That's what the, that's what the backups for.
What's the backup? Oh, I, I manually copy it to, um, my other system. Okay. Yeah, I'm, I'm not using
our sink or anything like that. Um, then I'm kind of glad I'm not if, uh, because some of the files
that I found were actually like corrupted. Some are missing, some were corrupted and just wouldn't
be able to work readable. And even after, um, doing a copy back, like, just doing a copy and
paste from, um, my backup to the primary and then just telling it to merge and, um, telling it to
ignore files that already had, I'm still not getting all the books back. And then also, um,
audio bookshelf itself is telling me that specific books are missing. And then I go and look
in the file location and they're there. And then I, um, I go and I'm play the files directly and the
files are just fine. So I have no idea why it's telling me that they're not there. Try to
cache maybe. Is that audio bookshelf that's saying that it's not there? It's audio bookshelf
saying that they're not there, even though when I go and look at the file location that it's telling
me that they're not at, they're right there. And the files are not corrupted. Yeah, well, audio bookshelf
for my experience has been kind of, uh, been a key when it comes to crap like that. Like if you had
something on there before, and then you delete it, and it's still kind of shows that it's around,
yeah. I think I've had problems before, where it either wants to think that something is there
that isn't, or something isn't there, that that is. Yeah. I think I had to delete the audio bookshelf
and then re- install it just to get it, it just starts seeing some of the books again. Yeah, I think
my reading tells me that it could be a couple of different issues. It could be that, um, the,
it's just not able to access the database quickly enough, which could be an issue with how
the hard drive is currently hooked up, or it could be that there is something corrupt on the database
itself, and I need to wipe out the database and rescan my entire library. And I can do that
easy enough, too. I mean, that's not a big deal. I'll lose my position on everything, but
so yeah, that's fine. So besides those, are you getting any interesting tech besides that?
No, not really. That's what I can think of. Got a Ghostbusters T-shirt. That's cool.
But since we went to Universal, they, the kids bought me shirts and stuff from Universal.
So I have, like, two Mario card shirts and uh, two new stuff. What's that?
If the new, if it's a new Mario Kart game, or is like just a generic one. So in Universal Studios
and Florida, they opened up a super Nintendo world, and they have a whole section just loop
geared towards Mario and they have a Mario Kart ride. Yeah, so I haven't been to Orlando through
2020. It's great. The whole area in the holes, it's called Super Nintendo worlds like that.
That whole area just looks so freaking cool, because they have one section that is all just Mario,
and it's, yeah, you feel like you're walking into like a super Mario game, and then they have
another section that's geared towards Donkey Kong, and it looks like you're walking into Donkey Kong
Country. Yeah, cool. I think it's based on the one-time movie. Um, not exactly.
Donkey Kong Country is geared more towards the, uh, the Donkey Kong Country games.
When I'm in the Mario area. Yeah. The Mario area is just geared more towards just, like,
straight up Mario, really. It's not eight, but it's more of, um, it's, uh, yeah, more like the
Mario worlds type of thing, because they have, let's see, they have one ride on the Yoshi,
and you kind of go around and, um, it, I want to say it looks more like the Yoshi crafting
worlds, but not, but not really. I don't know. You, I don't think of another Yoshi game,
but it's actually crafting worlds. Then it's, it's the difference at no one. Yeah.
And Mario World 2. Right. Yeah. So the point of that is you're riding around on this thing.
It's a really slow ride for a young kid, but you're riding on this Yoshi, and, uh, you're supposed
to spot the different colored Yoshi eggs. Like, it has, it has like three different color eggs.
Everyone, when you get near to it, you're supposed to pound the thing on the, on the, on the ride.
Yeah. It's like, um, this is like that one type of. Yeah. And then they have, they have a
Mario cart ride where, I mean, it's, so it's like going into a castle for Mario cart,
and then you get on the little ride thing and they put these, uh, like, uh,
really goggle type things on. And, uh, it's like a game where you're supposed to shoot the, uh,
the green shells at, uh, other racers and stuff. But it goes through like the different types of levels.
Like, it goes through Bowser's castle. You do rainbow road. And, uh, yeah, like regular ones. Like,
they're like a screen ride. Um, and it's a ride where it's, it's two person. You sit in it.
It's two people. But then you put these, uh, uh, like AR goggles on.
Uh, that's cool. I don't think so. Like, what you see isn't necessarily what the person next
you would see. Well, I think the, generally it is, but when you're shooting off,
while I'm shooting off my, uh, shells, uh, like my wife couldn't see what I was shooting. So
yeah. I feel so cool. I'm not. Yeah. I'm personally very scared of roller coaster. I don't
usually get one one. I think the only one I actually did when it last me went to, like, um,
uh, about two different, like Orlando, like, the, um, the really basic Harry Potter one at, um,
Elamish, or universal, universal studios. Like, the really slow one. I'm not good
or fully cut through that at all. But that sounds really cool. Most of the Harry Potter ones,
well, I think each part, because we did, uh, all three of the parks, um, most of the Harry
Potter ones were ones where they'd stick you in, uh, something like a big box type of a deal
with a bunch of other people, and then they just kind of move the box all around and have it be
stuff like um, it was like one of that side and it was like an actual um, it was an actual ride
like it would go outside and it was like really slow. I don't remember. It was like four years ago.
Yeah. I know there was, most of them had the, the big box type rides where like, uh, it was
inside and you had to go through like long lines to get you on the tail. So I know they had, uh,
haggard, haggard's, uh, motorcycle one that was kind of cool. It wasn't very, it wasn't very fast,
but it was up, it was outside and all around. I don't see there was another one. I can't remember.
But I'm not good with like, I can do, I'm better with inside roller coasters than I am with
outside and I think it's just a mental thing. Yeah. I'm like, you can't see exactly um,
like the environment going by exactly. It's, it's more of like, uh, you know, you're going to
flip upside down versus hey, this thing is going to flip it. I, you don't know that it's going to flip
the upside down. Yeah. And I just don't like being high up for one and like you got to find
what does it mean? I don't know. What's you? It's you. Yeah, that check your audio. For something
even, and mine, mumble like, for something like every time, mumble starts up, it starts the audio
to um, every time, mumble starts up, it's at the audio, it's like, for something. It's so friendly.
I'm just walking through a wally world driving some last minute things for my non-dricking
party. Well, I should drink water at least. I love making that joke.
And that is a good time. Right now, I'm trying to, so my daughter did the, my daughter likes Harry Potter,
so she got like the wand to do that at all. The little Harry Potter stops and stuff,
where you move it all around and it does something. Yeah, I think you have one of those for me
for my favorite. So I'm trying to pre that, so I'm trying to the 3D print a stand for her wand.
And part of it is like this little blackered. So it says, I'm not into Harry Potter, so
I don't remember, but like, uh, what does it say? All of Anders make her as a fine wand since
382AC. I'm trying to print it in a, I have a bronze PLA. Just a, so it looks cool, but I printed
twice before. And it just didn't look right. So I think I thought I wanted somewhere.
I'm, print out the placard in a bronze PLA. And then I wanted to print up the stand itself
in a wood PLA. And I may, depending on the way it is, try actually sanding and staining the wood PLA.
Cool. The thing I wanted to do is like, it's going to connect to a mobile app somewhere in my closet.
I had a friend who had that, doesn't it have like, I are in it or something too, so you can, uh,
like, I never opened it. Oh, all right, right, right. Yeah, I'm not, I used to be in the
Harry Potter somewhat. I am not that much anymore after, you know. All right. I think that's
a tricky subject to talk about too. I mean, it's the, can you still appreciate somebody's work,
even though you don't respect their point of views. Yeah. Um, because I know, I know people who
won't use Linux Mint because of some comments that, um, and I forget the guys who just, who start
playing. Clem made some comment, uh, uh, uh, God knows how many years ago now is real. Yes.
And there are people who will not use Mint because of that of the comment that he made.
But to me, that goes to like, that can be go to anything. I mean, do you watch something with an
actor in it who does questionable things or makes, makes questionable comments? Do you not,
um, follow a sports team because of questionable sports team or, uh, a player because of, uh,
questionable things that, that sports, that sports player has done.
Take a favor. I didn't really like Harry Potter so much anyway, but
definitely there's a new TV show that come out yet. The new Harry Potter TV show.
There's a new Harry Potter TV show. That's weird. Yeah.
I didn't hear about it. That's an again. I didn't really follow like, and that's like there
are any criminals that are with it. Yeah. Hold on. Let me see if I can find it.
Did I never really got into the, uh, Harry Potter, but I liked the, um, I was at amazing beasts,
something beasts. Fantastic beasts and where to find them. That's it. I thought that was fun.
Yeah, Harry Potter adjacent. Yeah. There's a lot of, there's a lot of like, um,
pop cultured I haven't actually seen. Like, um, it's, oh, it's going to be on Macs.
Is it Harry Potter himself or is it like something in that world? No, they're redoing it.
No, really? Why? Is it, is it alive actually remetly at all? The live action? Yeah.
Yeah, I'm going to say I live back to remake, but like, I forgot to get rid of them live
back until. Yeah. No. I don't even know when it's going to air scripted television series will
be a faithful adaptation of the original Harry Potter books written by JK Rowan.
Were the original movies not accurate enough? Well, they, they were not all that close.
Really? Yeah. I mean, they follow along pretty well, but yeah, there, there, there were some
differences. Obviously, because, you know, you're trying to fit, you know,
what hundreds of pages into a couple of hours. And also like, there's a lot of internal thoughts
that are written about. Right. But then again, if you're trying to then make that a show,
it's going to be just as hard to put internal thoughts into a show as a movie. I don't have high
host. Okay, but it's, it's scheduled premiere on HBO in the United States in early
2027. That's got to be difficult to do. I mean, with the age that your actors have to be,
if you're going to do multiple seasons, I mean, if you're starting out with an 11 year old,
it takes two years to get the screen. What do you do with season two? Well, for when I don't,
I'm pretty sure they're not going to get the child because like, like, labor log and stuff, but
literally it's why they're like 11 when they're actually 20 something. Yeah, not in this case.
I've seen the pictures. That dude's not 20. Yeah. Well, I think, I think that probably accurate.
At first, but I guess they had the same issue with the movies. I mean, the actors were pretty
old comparatively by the time the last movie came out. Well, he has to age in the books too, right?
I mean, he can't just stay the same age throughout all. However, many books there were. That's
true. He does start out as 11 and I think it like 18 or 19. But I did. I would have to look up
how long it took. We see the home series. Okay. So the first one came out in 2001 and the last one
came out. That's not too bad. 10 years later. So, you know, only like four years off. And I guess they
were pretty good about releasing them yearly. Oh, there was a two-year gap. And then another two-year gap,
two-year gap, seven-eight. Right, because they did two deathly holidays. Well, these are some
reasons. I mean, money. A lot of content. I did read all the books, but I both definitely did not,
like, watch. I don't think I watched half-blood prints or either of the deathly holidays movies. But
that was because the book, the half-blood prints kind of sucked ass. And I mean, I watched them a
lot later than I read the books. Yeah. But I started reading the books in 2003. So the series,
she wasn't done writing them yet, but I was in Iraq at the time. And I bought, I think, the five
books shut. That was out. Wait, why aren't you in Iraq? Because I was in the military. Oh. Yeah.
I was in the middle of the desert trying not to get shot at. Yeah, that was don't be curious.
I needed something to occupy my brain during the downtime. So, it was a five-book set. I grabbed it.
I think I can only want to actually own a half-blood prints. I'm sorry, what? I could only
want to actually own a half-blood prints. Yeah, I don't really read that much anymore. Unfortunately.
Well, I don't sit down with books that much anymore. I mostly just do the audio books.
Yeah, audio books are like, something to easier. I do a lot of those.
Really good series that I just re-read and read the most recent book of what have to be
Arcane Case Book by Dan Willis. Yeah, really good series. And then after that, I was kind of in a rush
and didn't want to go through and actually find a new book. So, I started re-listening to
and I just finished the first book in the Takashi Covax novels, Altered Carbon. Those are good.
Yeah, but the first one is so different than the other two. Very much so, especially the last one.
Yeah, well, no, the second one, they find alien corpses and sea ghosts or whatever
that were attached to the alien spaceship. And then you kind of get the impression that, you know,
technology is going to completely change because of it. And then in the third one, yeah, it's
basically, you know, the same stuff. I'm listening to the Arcane Unbound series, Brendan Sanderson.
Yeah, yeah, okay, the shorts. Well, there's the shorts and then my audio boat shelf,
hold on a second. So, it's based at the time I said, I love our time. Whoops,
it's going. Goodbye. Bye. Love you. Bye. Did mute today. Oh, well, any who. So, there's, so all
of the Brendan Sand, I downloaded all of the Brendan Sanderson's books and when I put it into audio
bookshelf, it like combined all of them. It actually happens on audio bookshelf when one, it can take
as few as one of the files is not in a folder. I'm not sure what it may have been next. So,
I downloaded it. If you go through and find the the file location and make sure that each book
is in its own separate folder, it will, it will rescan and it will work right. That's an
thing. It's going to parse things somehow, right? I thought it was, I did have it that way,
but I don't know. I've listened to a couple of the short stories and then I found one that was
one large story. So, I've been trying to just do the large story. Because I, initially, I was going
to listen to them on my drive down to Florida, but I wound up, there's a lot.
Yeah, I wound up listening to other things. So, occasionally with audio books and stuff,
I'll not listen to them for a while and then be like, I get very, it takes a lot for me to get back
into it. And then once I start listening to it, I get hooked back into it. So, I procrastinated
a while about this book and then just want to listen to, what do I do? I think it went to Amazon
Music and then just found up a bunch, found up a bunch of stand-up comedy and I made it giant playlist
of different stand-up comedy. Do you want to get some of the classic stuff, though, if you're
going to do stand-up, you're going to listen to like Richard prior. Yeah, prior is good. I did
Lori, who did I do? I like jumping that, jumping that's good. I did, I can't remember what I did.
Well, you know, I'm going to say that the Brandon Sanderson stuff is all freaking epic.
Is it? And it's all like, like, interconnected between the different series that he does?
There's usually one character that is on all the different worlds and then all of these different
worlds have their own magic styles, but they're still all interconnected. It's difficult to explain
but you'll get it once you read through everything. But yeah, I mean, let's see if I can bring it up.
He just finished the Stormlight Archive because he's going to do another thing, a Stormlight Archive
because he's doing something similar with that that he did with his, is doing with his Miss
Sporensaga, which is a jump forward in time and then more stuff happens and then a jump forward
in time and then more stuff happens, kind of like the last airbender stuff and how that, that has
worked so far. And the Miss Sporens stuff is, I think the Miss Sporens stuff is the Miss Sporens stuff.
The Miss Sporens stuff is actually really good too. The first trilogy for the Miss Sporens stuff,
the Miss Sporens original trilogy saga, whatever. I find that less rereadable than the Wax and
Wayne series, which came afterwards, which I believe is four books. But yeah, the Wax and Wayne stuff
is really good and then it's more a little bit more Western style with the Wax and Wayne,
but yeah, my favorite definitely has to be the Stormlight Archive. And then his standalone stuff
also ties in with it, like really well. Trust in the Emerald Sea, I have, I don't remember
Isles of the Emperor Dark, I know I read it, but you me and the Nightmare Painter is a really good
book and then definitely should read it. And then the Sunlit Man is about one of the characters
from the Stormlight Archive. So definitely worth the read if you're going to do everything.
And then he does have a couple of series that are completely disconnected from the the Cosmere.
The Legion books are good. The Frugal Wizards Handbook for surviving medieval England is really good.
I didn't like the Reckoners series, but I do really enjoy that he finished the The Wheel of Time series.
And the sight of her stuff is actually pretty good too, but that's sci-fi instead of you know,
fantasy. I actually got a good back and finished watching The Wheel of Time stuff.
I never did watch it, I couldn't, I just couldn't get into it. Yeah, I most people read the books
couldn't get into the show. Yeah, the TV show. Was it Amazon? Yep. Yeah, and I actually pay for that one.
The if you're not looking for another book series to read other than you know Brandon Sanderson
and the Dan Willis that I've already mentioned. Another really good author is Benedict Jacka.
What I need to. Oh, he's got two books series. One of them has finished up and it was Alex Verus novels.
And the other one is an inheritance of magic. Both are really good.
But he listened to the Hail Mary Project. What? That book and they're going to be making a movie on it.
Oh, great. Yeah, I have all listened to it a little bit of it. So I've got sci-fi for the other stuff.
Absolutely incredible book. That author, um, hold on, has written some other stuff.
Make something about a mark to Martian, I think. Yeah, Project. Okay, project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
Andy Weir has written at least three other books that I enjoyed. Yeah, he wrote the Martian,
which is a great book and a good movie. Artemis is a really good book. So if you haven't read the
Martian or Artemis go for it. So I guess he only has the three books. And then project Hail Mary
was really good with an American movie. Artemis didn't have a movie. The Martian was a good movie.
It's just the book was a thousand times better. I really didn't enjoy the Martian. Did you read it?
Or did you watch it? I watched it. Yeah, definitely give it a read. I had on Blu-ray.
I think it's only available on audible, right? Uh, believe so. A lot of things are only available on
audible. My favorite. Not my favorite. Yeah. Try this one called church books. You heard a
church books? No. No. You've heard of all the same titles with it. Have you ever heard of audio book
bay? A lot of parapane. Yeah. Yeah, the Martian is only available on audible. Is audio book bay not
have a copy? Oh, sure it does. For the pirates. Yeah. Like I said, it's available on the Kindle
Store and Barnes and Noble. Well, that's those of the ebooks. It's the audio book. Yeah, you can get a lot
of really good audio books through library systems. Yeah, I should need it more. What do you have
nearby you? I think we have Libby. Yeah. Everybody should have Libby. I have to get on my computer
and check, but there's something to liberate the audio books from audible. It takes off the DRM.
Yeah, I mean, it's nothing else. You could just record it. Type it out of one place system into
another. You could do that if you use Libby too. Just play the book and just play it into another server.
Exactly. As always, that's an audio whole, right? Oh, what? What are they calling that again?
You mean, you mean a audio think? Now, it's called the analog whole to where you can just
out something and there's to play it into something else. Yeah. That's what it's all the DRM. Yeah,
just have it output as a mic. I think that's not your thing. All right, bye. Yeah, I'm going to have to
run off to work here soon. I'll have fun.
